During June 8-10, the three-day Sixth International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle Congress (FCVC 2021) was successfully held at the Shanghai Automobile Exhibition Center. This event remained international, authoritative and professional, and aimed to promote international exchanges in the field of hydrogen energy and fuel cell technology, discuss business cooperation, and achieve a win-win situation in the industry. The congress attracted more than 200 exhibitors at home and abroad, including carmakers, stack and system suppliers, and hydrogen storage equipment manufacturers in the hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicle industry. Top industry experts and representatives made exchanges and speeches on the spot to jointly promote the development of the hydrogen energy and fuel cell car industry.


Hydrogen energy is regarded as the ultimate clean energy source of the 21st century, and has important strategic significance for achieving the goals of "peak carbon dioxide emissions" and "carbon neutrality". In the beginning year of the 14th Five-Year Development Plan, China's hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicle industry has ushered in greater development opportunities. On June 10, Yan Xiqiang, Deputy General Manager of Sinosynergy, was invited to deliver a speech with the theme of "Status and development trend of fuel cell stack industrialization". Yan Xiqiang said that fuel cell stacks were shifting to high power, high power density, long life and low cost. At present, domestic hydrogen fuel cells are mainly applied to commercial vehicles, and more attention is paid to service life and performance. In the on-site media interview, Dr. Yan Xiqiang said, “The commercialization of hydrogen energy is still in its infancy, and we always believe that the future market is very broad. We have already started industry cooperation in the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta, Shandong-Hunan, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, northern China, southwestern China, etc., and will continue to cooperate with industry partners in a win-win manner to promote rapid market growth.” For the situation in the second half year, Dr. Yan said that fuel cells for heavy-duty trucks would shift to higher power. With the rapid development of the industry, the cost per kilowatt would correspondingly drop rapidly. Looking to the future, Yan Xiqiang believed that, similar to the development path of lithium batteries, the hydrogen energy market will continue with specialization and commercialization in the future. From an energy point of view, hydrogen fuel cells will play to their unique advantages, and form a complementary relationship with lithium electricity storage.
