On March 18, Guangdong Nation Synergy Hydrogen Power Technology Co. Ltd., together with 5 hydrogen fuel cell leading enterprises, including SinoHykey Technology Guangzhou Co., Ltd., Xeca Turbo (Beijing) Technologies Co., Ltd., Ligong Qinke (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., and Suzhou Ruiqu Electric Technology Co., Ltd. and Hephas Energy Co., Ltd., signed a cooperation agreement with the Jiulongpo District Government of Chongqing City, to jointly build a world-leading hydrogen energy technology industrial park and create a hydrogen valley in western China (Chongqing).
2020 is hailed as the first year of the development of hydrogen energy industries in China. The National Energy Administration issued the Energy Law of the People's Republic of China (Draft for Comment), in which the hydrogen energy is included into an energy category for the first time. “The Outline of 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035” clearly defines the hydrogen energy as a prospective industry. On the afternoon of March 15, the General Secretary Xi Jinping presided over the ninth meeting of the Central Finance and Economics Committee, emphasizing that peak carbon dioxide emission and carbon neutrality should be incorporated into the overall layout of ecological civilization construction, and it is paramount to achieve the goal of peak carbon dioxide emission by 2030 and the goal of carbon neutrality by 2060 as scheduled.
The agreement signed by Sinosynergy and the cooperating parties this time conforms to the development direction of the national hydrogen energy, to seize the development opportunities of the energy revolution and lay a solid strategic foundation for development.
As the “fourth pole” of China following the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle has made a comprehensive layout for the implementation of hydrogen energy policies, the arrangement of hydrogen energy enterprise projects, the construction of hydrogen refueling station, the production of hydrogen fuel vehicle and other fields. Sinosynergy has signed a strategic cooperation agreement for coordinated development with the relevant automobile enterprises. Relying on Chengdu-Chongqing's strong economic hinterland and sophisticated hydrogen energy resources, Sinosynergy will build another new technology-leading hydrogen energy demonstration application area in China, and gradually improve its strategic deployment in the national market.
The five companies that cooperated with Sinosynergy in the Jiulongpo District are all leading companies in hydrogen fuel cells: SinoHykey Technology Guangzhou Co., Ltd. is the first company in China to industrialize membrane electrodes, and its teams are all well-known domestic and foreign experts; Xeca Turbo (Beijing) Technologies Co., Ltd. is a domestic leader in centrifugal air compressor R&D and production, and its product market share takes the lead in China as well; Suzhou Ruiqi Electric Technology Co., Ltd. is currently one of the few domestic enterprises that can produce vehicle-grade fuel cell hydrogen cycle system products, with a leading product market share nationwide; Ligong Qinke (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise initiated and established by Beijing Institute of Technology, and with its fuel cell catalyst production technology, the company breaks international monopoly; Hephas Energy Co., Ltd. is a professional manufacturer of fuel cell test equipment, and its technology of hydrogen fuel test equipment has reached the international top level.
The six dominant companies will jointly invest in Jiulongpo District to build an integration technology industrial park covering eight key components of hydrogen fuel cells and the fuel cell system, with the project output value of more than 20 billion yuan per year, contributing more than 810-million-yuan taxes per year. After the project is completion, a closed-loop ecological chain will be formed, greatly enhancing the core supporting capabilities of hydrogen energy industry development in Chongqing. At the same time, Sinosynergy, Jiulongpo District and industry stakeholders will jointly invest several billion yuan to establish a national headquarters operating company, carry out fuel cell vehicle demonstration and promotion, and use Chongqing as the cornerstone to replicate the mode and promote operation experience across China.
In the next step, Sinosynergy will work closely with upstream and downstream strategic partners in the industry, to promote chain supplementation, expansion, and strengthening of the commercial operation of hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and fuel cell vehicle, and build a hydrogen corridor hub and hydrogen energy industrial chain cluster demonstration highland in Chongqing, radiating Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, and other parts of China, so as to create a unique hydrogen valley in western China (Chongqing), further enhance Chongqing’s dominant position in the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry, and contribute to peak carbon dioxide emission and carbon neutrality in Chongqing and China.
